Why go to Disney World?

10 Reasons to Go to Disney World

This is a question you will get from folks who haven’t been Disney World, especially if you start to make it a regular destination. While Disney World might not be for everyone, for most of us who make the trip, we are hooked and can’t wait to go back. There are more than a few things that you can see or do anywhere else and with the size and scope of Disney World, there are thousands of ways to make a great vacation. Here are some of my top reasons for wanting to go.

  1. Something for all ages

When planning a vacation, finding a location can be difficult especially if you have kids of different ages or going are with multiple generations. The nice thing about Disney World is that everyone in the family can find something of interest. There are many rides and attractions that will appeal to everyone but also thrill rides for older kids and adults as well. It also excels in rides for kids who have outgrown kiddie rides but aren’t ready for huge rollercoasters, which are hard to find at most amusement parks.

Outside the parks, there are also numerous things to do such as golfing, fishing, and plenty of entertainment and dining. Also, if you are staying on property, your resort has many activities such as movies under the stars, campfires, and art classes to do when you are not sitting by the pool.

    2. Let kids feel grown up.

The world is different than when we were kids and these days, there are not as many opportunities to let your kids explore on their own. A Disney Vacation is a good place to try to expand the boundaries and feel grown up. Depending on their age, it might be walking alone to refill their mug at the food court or spending the afternoon with their siblings at the Magic Kingdom without their parents but having a place that is kid-centric is a nice thing to have.

With all the different rides and foods, there are plenty of opportunities to try something new that might seem a little scary. If you have young ones who haven’t done roller-coaster before, there are plenty of rides where they can have an introduction to test their bravery.

    3. Let Disney do the driving.

One of the nice things about going to Disney World is once you get there, you can take all the free transportation to get where you are going. If are flying into Orlando, you can easily take buses, monorails, skyliner, and boats without the need to rent a car or rideshare. No need to deal with rush hour traffic, parking, or those long walks to get into the parks.

With all the options to have food or other items delivered to your resort, there isn’t the need to run to the store to get those items you forgot at home.  It’s a good idea to have a ride-share app on your phone just in case but we have had many trips where we just use the free transpiration.

    4. All the History

Disney World just celebrated its fiftieth anniversary but many of the rides at the Magic Kingdom date back to the early days of Disneyland. Walt Disney might not have walked down Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, but many rides and experiences are ones Walt thought up or were inspired by him, especially in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

There are some rides like Spaceship Earth, living with the Land, and the Hall of Presidents that no other companies would even think about doing and wouldn’t be done at all today but we can still experience today.

    5. See the World.

The sad reality is most of us will never make it to Africa, Asia, or even most of Europe, and going to Disney World might be the next best thing. Whether it’s going on an African Safari or going to the World Showcase in Epcot, you get to see things you can’t at home and expand your horizons. There have been more than a few people who saw something on their Disney Trip to motivate them to start doing more world travel.

Your resort also provides an opportunity to get a feel for a location especially places like Animal Kingdom Lodge, French Quarter, and the Polynesian just to name a few. Most of the resorts do a good job of giving you the feel of faraway places between all the architecture, music, and food.

    6. Unique Restaurants

It doesn’t matter if you are doing Character dining, Table Service, or Quick Service, most restaurants have deep theming and unique experiences. It’s not every day that you can eat in Space, a castle, or a Drive-in theater. On top of that, there are restaurants where you can see a monorail float overhead, eat Seafood in an Aquarium or meet Chip and Dale in a slowing-rotating restaurant.

And there are also all those snacks that can’t be missed as well.

    7. Out-of-the-world rides

There are plenty of Amusement parks around but there are no Theme parks quite like Disney. From Classics like Spaceship Earth, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Pirates of the Carrabin to newer rides like Tron, Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Rewind, and Rise of the Resistance there are plenty of options. There are also rides the whole family will love such as Ratatouille, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Frozen Ever After.

    8. Shows and Entertainment

With everything else going on, it’s easy to overlook the shows but there are many shows that should not be missed. Both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom feature numerous shows and many of them are ones you won’t have to arrive super early for and are inside so you can get some air conditioning and sit down for a while. Some of the favorites are Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Frozen Sing-along, and Festival of the Lion King

Getting a chance to meet your favorite Character is also a fun way to spend some time. With most meetings, there is a special queue where you will wait before getting to meet someone and get a photo. You also never know who you will run into and what extras you might see on your day at the parks.

    9. Nighttime Shows

After the rides, fireworks are what many people think of when thinking of Disney World and that is for good reason since they are amazing. Right now, both Epcot and the Magic Kingdom have nightly shows and there are dinner and dessert packages if you want a reserved seat. If shows aren’t your thing, it’s also a great time to catch some rides since the lines will be short.

    10.All the places to explore.

Of all the things that make Disney World Special is that most places have been extensively themed so there are many out-of-the-way places to explore and do that are easily missed. Some of those might be some hoof prints in Fantasy Land, images on the Tree of Life, or all the hidden Mickeys but there are many other things to find in the parks and resorts.

There are also plenty of lands that a just fun to walk around like Galaxies Edge, Pandora, or the World Showcase to see how everything comes together.
